TEHILLIM (PSALMS) 71:3

Be my strong refuge.
To which I may resort continually;
You have given the commandment to save me,
For You are my rock and my fortress.

Be my strong refuge

King David was driven out of his dwelling place and palace at Jerusalem by his son. When God’s people have no certain dwelling place one may always find a dwelling place in Adonai.  Our hearts must always be hidden in God for he who dwells in love dwells in God. “Also we have come to know trust the love that God has for us. God is love; and those who remain in this love remain united with God, and God remains united with them” (Yochanan Alef [1 John] 4:16).

To which I may resort continually

We must always make God our first refuge. In times of danger and distress the name of the Lord is a strong tower. Mishlei (Proverbs) 18:10 says “The name of Adonai is a strong tower; a righteous person runs to it and is raised high [above danger]. Tehillim (Psalms) 57:1-2 reminds, “Show me favor, God, show me favor; for in You I have taken refuge. Yes, I will find refuge in the shadow of your wings until the storms have passed.”

Messiah Yeshua is the way of access and acceptance. Through His sacrifice the believer has boldness to enter into the holiest of all and go up to the seat of God, the throne of His grace; and even to enter into Him himself, who has been the dwelling place of his people in all generations. “Adonai, You have been our dwelling place in every generation” Tehillim (Psalms) 90:1.

You have given the commandment to save me

Tehillim (Psalms) 91:9-11 says “For you have made Adonai, the Most High, who is my refuge, your dwelling-place. No disaster will happen to you, no calamity will come near your tent; for He will order His angels to care for you and guard you wherever you go.”

For You are my rock and my fortress

“Adonai is my Rock, my fortress and deliverer, my God, my Rock, in whom I find shelter, my shield, the power that save me, my stronghold. I call on Adonai, Who is worthy of praise; and I am saved from my enemies.” Tehillim (Psalms) 18:2-3.
