PRAYING FOR ISRAEL

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT THE LAND OF ISRAEL?

Adonai recounts numerous times that the Eretz Israel (the Land of Israel) belongs to Him. And He has chosen to give it to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants (see Scripture references in Praying for Israel – Part 2).

King David calls upon others in Tehillim (Psalms) 122:6-7 to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, for her welfare, for her good, particularly for the uniting of the inhabitants among themselves and their preservation from the approachment of her enemies. A more accurate translation from the Hebrew would be “to inquire for, or ask after the peace of Jerusalem.”

Use these prayer guides to assist you as you pray and inquire for the peace of Jerusalem.

TEHILLIM (PSALMS) 122

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of Adonai.” Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem! Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together, where the tribes go up, the tribes of Yah, to the Testimony of Israel, to give thanks to the name of Adonai.

For thrones are set there for judgment, the thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces.” For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, “Peace be within you.” Because of the house of Adonai our Elohim I will seek your good.

YESHAYAHU (ISAIAH) 62

For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a lamp that burns. The Gentiles shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory. You shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of Adonai will name. You shall also be a crown of glory in the hand of Adonai, and a royal diadem in the hand of your Elohim.

You shall no longer be termed Forsaken,  nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate;  but you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for Adonai delights in you, and your land shall be married. For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your sons marry you; and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your Elohim rejoice over you.

I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of Adonai, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

Adonai has sworn by His right hand and by the arm of His strength: “Surely I will no longer give your grain as food for your enemies; and the sons of the foreigner shall not drink your new wine, for which you have labored. But those who have gathered it shall eat it, and praise Adonai; those who have brought it together shall drink it in My holy courts.”

Go through, Go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!

Indeed Adonai has proclaimed to the end of the world: “Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Surely your salvation is coming; behold, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him.’ “

And they shall call them The Holy People, The Redeemed of Adonai; and you shall be called Sought Out, a City Not Forsaken.
