LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE

This past week we have had opportunity to say good-bye to those we love. We do not welcome these occasions and indeed they are difficult to embrace. There is pain. There is loss. There is grief.

What has come from the retelling of the stories of our friends and loved one’s lives? It can be summed up with these four words . . .

“Love God, Love People”

Deuteronomy 10:12 says “And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul …”

Micah 6:8 restates the same theme.  “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God …”

It’s easy for us to say we love God, but how do we show it? By loving people. It’s that simple. How to we love people? We share in their triumphs, in their tragedies. We share in happiness, we share in loss. But the most important way we show that we love God and that we love people is to share the good news with those around us in loving and caring ways.

This week look for ways you can offer encouragement. Look for ways you can pray for one another. Look for a way to share with quiet confidence of your faith in Messiah Yeshua … that He came to redeem those lost in sin and that they too may have the gift of eternal life.
